Rüdiger's Fiat 128 3p Berlinetta

This is how she looks like - my secret love, since I've seen here for the first time ! That was about 12 years ago, when I saw a 128 §p for the first time in my life. It took some time until I got the occasion to see the car from a close position and to identify the exact type. Unfortunately I had to find out that these cars already at that time could not be found for sale at every street corner.
When I made myself clear that I've got to move my ass for some hundred kilometres to find a usable car od this type, I suffered from a certain lack of money. When late I had enough money, there was a lack of a suitable place for depot in winter. Now this problem is also solved, so I own this car since April 2000.

I found this vehicle in the city of Bielefeld. There it stood for rather two year completely dusty in a garage. The owner worked on another project, a 850 Spider, therefore he had no real idea any more what to do with the Berlinetta.
The owner is orignated on the same country as these cars and bought the 3p in 1994 on home vacations.
I suppose that the long stay in more appealing climate limited the corrosion to a tolerable extent.

Furthermore driving this car is a real adventure - narrow, loud, tough, force-feedback-steering, a car for real men and women !! That's how it was 25 years ago. But when you nowadays want a car with this gorgeous look, where you even can see from inside where the front end of the car is, then you have to realize that you cannot simply go to your local dealer and that you have to put an very old car into your garage.
And when you just want a car to distiguish from the mainstream, you have no other chance than buying a rather old car except you are able to spent some 100000 dollars.
Everything could have been so very nice, but unfortunately the car was more corroded than it looked like in a part which is important for stability. After a strong braking parts of de body where the left stabilisator is conncted just broke ! The resulting damage was too difficult for my modest welding abilities. Therefore I sold the car.
